BlueTheme Docs فارسی

Persian, right to left and translation

BlueTheme is made for Persian first and works fully in English. The site's language decides: set it in Settings → General → Site Language. A Persian site reads right to left, with Persian fonts, Jalali dates and Persian digits; an English site reads left to right with English text.

Right to left

Everything mirrors on a Persian site: the header, menus, sliders, the builder, Theme Options and the shop. Settings say start and end instead of left and right, so a design made on an English site works on a Persian one, and the other way round.

Arrows point the right way in each direction, and code blocks stay left to right in both.

Dates and digits

Theme Options → Global → Localization:

Setting What it does
Jalali (Shamsi) dates Shows post, comment, archive and WooCommerce order dates in the Jalali calendar. Auto turns it on when the site language is Persian.
Date format Choose a Jalali format, such as ۱۴۰۵/۰۸/۱۰ or ۱۰ آبان ۱۴۰۵, use WordPress's own setting, or write your own.
Jalali date archives Addresses such as /1405/08/ list the posts of Aban 1405, and the Archives widget lists Jalali months.
Persian digits Shows numbers in Persian digits (۱۲۳) in text visitors read. Form fields, code and web addresses keep Latin digits, so nothing breaks.
Currency label For WooCommerce's Toman and Rial: the label to show.

If you already use WP-Parsidate or Persian WooCommerce, they convert the dates and the theme leaves dates to them, so nothing is converted twice.

Fonts

The theme includes Vazirmatn and Shabnam for Persian and Inter for Latin text. They load from your own site: no Google Fonts, nothing blocked.

  • Theme Options → Fonts → Persian presets: set a matching Persian font for the body, menus and headings in one click.
  • Custom fonts: upload the WOFF2 files of any font you have a license for, such as IRANSans or IRANYekan. It then appears in every font list in Theme Options and the builder.
  • Google Fonts is off by default. If you turn it on, use Download to keep the files on your own site instead of loading them from Google.

Iranian services

  • Video: the Video element, section background videos and portfolio videos take Aparat links, as well as YouTube and Vimeo.
  • Maps: the Map elements use OpenStreetMap, which works without a Google account. Theme Options → Global → Addons & integrations can switch to another tile server, and Load maps only after a click keeps the map from loading until a visitor asks for it.
  • Sharing: the share buttons include Telegram, WhatsApp, Eitaa and Bale (Theme Options → Social → Share box).
  • Icons: the icon picker has an Iranian networks set with the Aparat, Eitaa, Bale and Virgool logos.
  • Shop: Toman and Rial, Iranian address fields and city lists, one-time code login by SMS. See the shop.

Changing the theme's texts

Every text the theme shows to visitors ("Read more", "Search", "Add to cart" labels, the 404 message…) can be changed in Theme Options → Translate, without editing files. Leave a field empty to keep the default.

To use translation files instead (for example made with Loco Translate or Poedit), turn on Use .po translation files instead in Translate → Settings. The theme ships a complete Persian translation, and a .pot file for other languages.

A site in Persian and English

For a site in two languages, use Polylang or WPML. BlueTheme follows the language of each page: Persian pages read right to left with Persian dates, English pages left to right. Add the Language Switcher element to your header to let visitors switch.

  • Demos in both languages: the setup wizard can import a demo in Persian and English at once, linked as translations, with each language's menus, header, footer and Theme Options texts.
  • Headers, footers and other templates are translated like pages: each language shows its own. Translate a template from Templates, as you would a page.
  • Theme Options texts and logos (copyright, banners, the Translate section, the logo and its variants) are translated in Languages → Translations in Polylang, or WPML → String Translation, in the group BlueTheme. Pick the logo of the other language there by its address. Colors, fonts and layout options are the same in both languages.
